So... looking for a bit of input...
My muse seems to have visited me...and working on a Dolcett like bit, but I like input on something, so here is one.
For those who like Dolcett like work and the Jessica 3000, some quick questions please. Feel free to make as big a response as you like, in fact I'd like to know why you feel the way you do, male or female, all input welcome.
1) Some stories have the victim in a ton of pain, some it's painful but they can take it, some it doesn't hurt at all. What's your preference? Personally I'm the middle...because I like some "reality" mixed with my fantasy. Yeah yeah, I know...it's not real. But to me, it would have to hurt...but if you wanted it bad enough, if the victim were indeed turned on by the whole experience enough (and not just the spike, the whole 'ceremony') then that could over come he pain. I've had some experience with handling very severe pain (survival situation, not Jessica obviously) and you'd be amazed what you can do with enough "need".
2) Some have gutting from an automatic machine, then sewed back up. Personally, I'm not THAT much into the whole roasting thing. I do get it, and it works very well in some stories. But again, in the "real" with the "fantasy" line, if you were not going to roast the victim, the whole point WAS to impale them, then gutting wouldn't be that important, unless the victim did want that as well.
I posted this here as well, because it will be interesting to see this from the actual big roasting fans...since this IS all about roasting, I really do want to hear how important the whole gutting thing is to everyone here.
So do folks feel about that? Just curious to see the answers.

Dealing with my prefered fetish I have to drop some answers:
I imagine pain with the procedure what will replaced soon by lust when it is entirely through - from lips to lips - and I could move back and forth on the spit.
If gutting happenes BEFORE spitting, it signals some inevitable, the point of no return. At this time, I could relax and enjoy whats coming next.
Perhaps I have to mention, there is a difference between impaling and roasting. Keep in mind tehre are some stories around where roasting happenes without spitting. Personally I am only interested in "getting the spit".

I have written a large number of stories with spitroasting scenes. Sometimes spitroasting is the whole story.
I started out pretty much with the Jessica 3000, or the original Vlad 3000, both of which had gutting mechanisms and very fanciful but highly impractical systems to sew up the belly again after gutting. It was also extremely labour intensive, as pictured in Dolcett's art.
It seemed to me that excessive pain and complexity did not make it a better fantasy. There is little point in going through a whole series of steps including enemas and gutting, if you are not going to bleed out the meat before cooking it; you want it to be roasted alive.
In my later stories women use a special diet to sterilise the guts so gutting is unnecessary. My new spitting machines have a pleasure cycle which eliminates the labour intensive and uncertain quality of having an attendant fuck the girl before she is spitted. The pleasure mechanisms have evolved in sophistication and effectiveness.
I don't see pain as the object of the exercise. It is more about the fantasy, the eroticism of the sheer idea of feeling the spit right through your body and making contact in such sensitive areas.
We know that intense pain can be exquisite and even addictive, and research suggests that the searing heat would soon destroy the sensitivity of the nerve endings under the skin. I don't really know, but certainly in fantasy I focus on the exquisite nature of that pain and that it would fade as life itself fade away. That, it seems to me, is a legitimate approach for a writer to adopt.
Aesthetics are also an important element. I can't see a girl wanting to mount a machine that looks like an engineering project, even if she knows that it will probably work. I like the block to be smooth, rounded and form fitting, perhaps even coloured. I like the girl to be able to touch and feel the spit before she mounts the block. That triggers a lot of emotions and responses in her mind, most of which make it a better fantasy!

Thanks Spitman...my own tastes changed over the years as well. And I agree, it's much more about the fantasy. I especially agree about the aesthetics being very important. No one would want to ride something that looked like an industrial drill press on its side. But a beautifully crafted machine, even with what it's for? And a appreciative crowd watching, enjoying... the aesthetics are VERY important to setting the scene :-)

All those intestines & their contents cooking and bursting inside her as she roasts would almost certainly do nasty things to the flavor and aroma of the final product.
