until she can no longer move?...then she is ready though anytime she is over 300# is a good time!

Hmmm - good question, Miss Piggy. Personally, I feel that 200 to 250 lbs is a good time to call it quits, but it also depends on the bone structure. That is, a tall, big-boned animal can carry more meat and usable fat than can a more petite female. Remember also the complications in transporting, washing, gutting and butchering an enormous carcass. A powered winch may be required, as well as a large supporting frame and extra large preparation slab. Further, refrigeration of a massive animal may require costly renovation of your larder, etc. There are always trade-offs, so I recommend making the kill before the 300 mark.

I agree, 200-250lbs is the perfect size to hang and slaughter a pig. After all you might want to hang the fat pig at your place when you have guests and then take it to butcher the next day. Do you really want to move that dead pig weight into the walk in frezzer and then to the truck and then to the shop...that's a lot of work if it's a 300+ sow

Oh yeah, Sandra is definitely ready to be sent to the slaughter house and hung...from a crane with a steel cable, I think she has passed the weight limit for the hanging gallows.

Most any weight at 300 pounds and above. The cost charged at the slaughterhouse will be offset the bigger a fatty is. I've been getting a lot of notice the fatter I have gotten. I expect some one will decide to cash me in pretty soon. Like all super 'Flabs' i'mm destined for the butcher 's slab.

if you fed as a pig, if you constantly grow fat more and more, what weight you would want to go on a slaughter-house? when it becomes already heavy to move? or when will begin to brease?
